Justice Nivedita Prakash Mehta was born on 17th February, 1970. She completed her Bachelor of Commerce degree from Dhanwate National College, Nagpur and obtained her LL.B. degree from Dr. Ambedkar College of Law, Nagpur.

She was enrolled as an Advocate on 16th October, 1993 and has acquired extensive experience in the fields of Civil, Constitutional, Service, Local and Municipal, Labour, and Criminal Law. Over the course of her distinguished legal career, she has appeared in a wide range of matters before various judicial forums.

From 2013 to 2023, she served as Assistant Government Pleader and Additional Public Prosecutor for the Government of Maharashtra at the Nagpur Bench. Since October 2023, she has been serving as Additional Government Pleader and Additional Public Prosecutor, representing the State Government. She has also been an empanelled Advocate for Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority, Western Coalfields Limited, and Blue Star.

She represented the State of Maharashtra in Handball and subsequently represented India in the Asian Games and the Commonwealth Games. In recognition of her outstanding achievements in sports, she was honoured with the prestigious Shiv Chhatrapati Award.

She was elevated as an Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court on 25th October, 2024.
